Chess Camp in Regina - This August

CHESS NUTS - Chess Camp 2008
WHEN: August 18-22, 2008
WHERE: Cathedral Neighborhood Centre, 13th & Retallack, Regina
TIME: Daily Monday to Friday 9:30am - 12 noon
FORMAT: Beginner (Raw Rookies to Novices) to Advanced (Tournament Players to Provincial Champs).
From: How do the pieces move? To: The nuts & bolts of the Albin Counter Gambit!
All levels and strengths welcome and will be accommodated.
WIND UP: Sponsored Tournament With Prizes & Pizza Party, Friday.

ITINERARY: Each day will consist of 3 sections:
1.Instruction on The Rules of Chess, Strategy, Tactics, Opening, Middle, & Endgame Theory.
2.Head to Head Game Play - Test out what you have learned.
3.The Lighter Side of Chess - IE: Tag Team Chess, Musical Chair Chess, Anti-Chess, Chess Relay Races, Atomic Chess, Siamese Chess, Replacement Chess, Rifle Chess, Centaur Chess, and more.

Each Child will receive a Chess Camp T-shirt, Pizza & Pop Party on the last day, a Wind Up Tournament, and personal instruction and tutoring from a Canadian Chess Federation Expert and Assistant Chess Instructors.
Plus - Miscellaneous random prizes throughout the week!

THE GOAL ?? Simple. To have MORE FUN THAN SHOULD BE ALLOWED BY LAW In an OVER THE TOP Chess Environment, AND, a better understanding & ability to play. (Parent Translation: To actually get them to learn something) 

National Chess Challenge Results

Check the SSCA web site for Team Saskatchewan's results at the 2008 National Chess Challenge. The National Chess Challenge is a Chess'n Math Association event held once a year on the May long weekend. Each province may send one representative per grade to this National event. This year the tournament was held in Edmonton; and Saskatchewan sent a complete team to the event.
