Saskatoon Pre-Christmas Scholastic Chess Tournament

Saturday, December 4th
New players welcome!

Players can expect

• a Chess'n Math rated tournament
• at least five games
• to play in a section based on their ratings or playing strength
• time control is 30 minutes per player
• grade 4 and above will use chess clocks
• a chance to play in a simultaneous exhibition against National Master Keith McKinnon (up to 30 boards over lunch)
• to win a prize if you beat Keith in the simultaneous exhibition
• on site registration begins at 9:45 AM
  
• lunch break and simultaneous exhibition 12:15 to 1:30
• tournament ends around 4:00 PM

Back to School chess tournament

The annual SSCA Back to School chess tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd at St. George School, 748 Redberry Rd., Saskatoon.

Please pre-register for this tournament by contacting Don MacKinnon at donmac451@sasktel.net, or by telephone at 306 445 8369. If you have pre-registered, you can pay at the door between 9:45 and 10:10. We'll try to start play by 10:15 a.m. If you do not pre-register, please come early, by 9:30, so that we can obtain all the necessary information.

Players will be divided into sections, either by ratings, or by their grade. This will be a CMA rated tournament. Players above grade 3 will play with a chess clock.

The entry fee for this tournament will be $15.00, plus the annual SSCA membership of $5.00.
We expect to have a lunch break between 12:00 and 1:00, with the tournament ending about 3:30 p.m.

Come on out to dust off your chess skills or if you are new to chess come out and enjoy playing with new friends.

2010 Chess Nuts Camp

WHEN: August 16-20, 2010
WHERE: Pasqua Neighborhood Centre, Pasqua St. & Sherwood Dr., Regina
TIME: Daily Monday to Friday 930am - 12noon
FORMAT: Beginner (Raw Rookies to Novices) to Advanced (Tournament Players to Provincial Champs).

To: The nuts & bolts of the Albin Counter Gambit!
All levels and strengths welcome and will be accommodated.
WIND UP: Sponsored Tournament With Prizes & Pizza Party, Friday.

ITINERARY: Each day will consist of 3 sections:

1. Instruction on The Rules of Chess, Strategy, Tactics, Opening, Middle, & Endgame Theor
2. Head to Head Game Play - Test out what you have learned.
3. The Lighter Side of Chess - IE: Tag Team Chess, Musical Chair Chess, Anti-Chess, Chess Relay Races, Atomic Chess, Siamese Chess, Replacement Chess, Rifle Chess, Centaur Chess, and more.

Each Child will receive a Camp T-shirt, Pizza & Pop Party Wind Up, a Wind Up Tournament, and personal instruction and tutoring from a Canadian Chess Federation Expert and Assistant Chess Instructors.
Plus - Miscellaneous random prizes throughout the week!

THE GOAL ?? : To have a GOOGLE of FUN for EVERYONE in a Chess Nuts Environment, AND, a better understanding & ability to play. (Parent Translation: To actually get them to learn something) ☺
