Regina and Saskatoon Regional Chess Tournaments 2018

SSCA is hosting two regional chess tournaments in March. Students must play in a regional tournament to qualify to participate in the Provincial Chess Championship in Regina, April 22, 2018.

Please note that you must play in at least one regional tournament in order to be invited to the Provincial Chess Championship. However, you may play in both regional tournaments if you wish!

The first place player in each grade at the provincial tournament will be invited to be part of Team Saskatchewan for the Canadian Chess Challenge, which will be held in Saint John's, NL, over the May long weekend, May 19 to 21, 2018.

Eligibility and format for regional tournaments
  • open to all players from Kindergarten through grade 12
  • new players welcome
  • play 5 - 6 games
  • chess tournament rules apply
  • chess clocks used in upper grades (generally grade 5/6 and up)
  • game time is 30 minutes per player
  • $20 if preregistered (plus a $5 SSCA membership if not yet paid this year)
  • please preregister by 6 pm the day before the tournament

 Note that prior year's provincial champions are exempt from the requirement to qualify for Provincials by playing in a regional tournament.
