2025 Oct 19 Saskatchewan Scholastic Chess Quarterly Tournament (CYCC Qualifier) — Registration Open

The Saskatchewan Scholastic Chess Association (SSCA) is pleased to announce our Quarterly Scholastic Chess Tournament on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Saskatoon.

This event will be CFC & CMA rated and will serve as:

  • A Canadian Youth Chess Championship (CYCC) qualifier

  • A seeding and qualification event for the 2026 Saskatchewan Provincial Championship

We warmly welcome both returning and new players to participate!


📅 Date & Time

  • Sunday, October 19, 2025

  • Venue: 3041 Louise St, Saskatoon

  • Check-in: starts at 9:30 AM

  • Tournament Start: 10:00 AM

Please arrive early to allow enough time for check-in and seating.


🏆 Sections (Grades K–12)

U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18

  • Players are grouped by CYCC age ruleage as of January 1, 2025.


⏱ Format & Time Control

  • 5–6 rounds, Swiss or Round-Robin (depending on number of players)

  • Time Control: 25 minutes + 5-second delay (per player, per game)


💳 Fees

  • Tournament Fee: $30 (includes 2025 SSCA Membership Fee)

  • Optional Lunch: $6 for two slices of pizza

    • Total: $36 with lunch

    • Total: $30 without lunch

  • One form and one payment per participant.

  • Pre-registration deadline: 5:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2025

  • Online registration only — no on-site registration will be accepted.


📌 Important Notes

  • CFC ID is mandatory for all players.

    • If you do not have one yet, please visit the CFC website to create a free ID before the event.

    • As a benefit for young players, CFC will give free membership to the players of this tournament.

  • Please bring a water bottle.

  • If you are not ordering pizza, pack your own lunch or snack — there will be a short lunch break mid-day.

  • Parents and spectators are welcome to stay in the common area but cannot assist players during games.
