Saskatoon Scholastic Chess Club

The Saskatoon Scholastic Chess Club meets every second Saturday at 10:00 - noon in Lower Place Riel at the University of Saskatchewan.

• chess tournament rules apply (touch move)
• chess clocks used in upper grades (generally grade 5/6 and up)
• game time is 30 minutes per player
• tournament check-in and fee payment starts at 9:45 a.m.
• tournament starts at 10:30 a.m. (ends around 3:30 p.m.)
• cost is $15 plus a $5 SSCA membership (payable at the door)
• number of sections will depend on number of participants

Saskatoon Regional Chess Tournament - Sat. March 24th

On Saturday, March 24th, the Saskatoon Regional Provincial qualifier tournament will be held, and currently we expect that the location will be St. George School, located at 748 Redberry Rd., in the North end of Saskatoon.

If held at St. George, the tournament will commence at 11:30 a.m., and run until about 4:30 p.m.

Back to School Chess Tournament - Saskatoon

Chess'n Math rated tournament - Saskatoon - Sunday - Oct. 2nd, 2011

Open to: K - 12 chess players of all strengths, from novices to seasoned players.
Location: St. George School, located at 748 Redberry Rd. in Saskatoon, (just a block south of Lenore Dr. in the North end of the city)
Doors open: 9:45 am (please arrive at lest 15 min before start time)
Start time: 10:30 a.m. sharp
Number of games: 5 - 6
Time control: 25 min per player with a 5 second delay
Cost: $15 + $5 annual membership to SSCA

Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the school gym clean - please bring a change of shoes.

Saskatoon Pre-Christmas Scholastic Chess Tournament

Saturday, December 4th
New players welcome!

Players can expect

• a Chess'n Math rated tournament
• at least five games
• to play in a section based on their ratings or playing strength
• time control is 30 minutes per player
• grade 4 and above will use chess clocks
• a chance to play in a simultaneous exhibition against National Master Keith McKinnon (up to 30 boards over lunch)
• to win a prize if you beat Keith in the simultaneous exhibition
• on site registration begins at 9:45 AM
  
• lunch break and simultaneous exhibition 12:15 to 1:30
• tournament ends around 4:00 PM

Location: Ecole Canadienne Francaise, 1407 Albert Ave., Saskatoon. (Just two blocks south of 8th Street on the East side of the city).

Tournament Director: Don MacKinnon

Start time: 10:15 a.m.
Canteen on site.

Players will be divided by grade into sections made up of other players from their own grade. (In upper years there may be some cross over between grades due to a lack of players).
